More about IVC in Cleveland...

Organizations in the Cleveland area do a remarkable job working to meet the needs of people who are materially poor.  However, most will say that there are simply not enough resources to meet the needs.  As it becomes more difficult to pay for skilled staff members, nonprofit agencies increasingly look to volunteers to help fulfill their missions.

In 2008, IVC Cleveland had 15 Ignatian Volunteers working at 12 partner agencies in direct service to people who are poor.

Here is what some current Ignatian Volunteers are saying:

"I am always amazed at the strength of the human spirit that many possess and their deeply held abiding faith in a good God, I felt that I needed to come back for a second year.  These people have paid their dues to Society and yet society will not forgive them."

-Tom M. reflecting on his volunteering at Cleveland Works Inc.

"I developed a greater empathy for those around me and came to realize that there are many kinds of needs which we can fill by using our own special talents and answering our particular call to service.”

-Mary Kay H. who volunteers at the Cleveland Sight Center
