Welcome to IVC Cleveland

Since 2001, Ignatian Volunteers have been working in local community agencies and programs in Cleveland, directly assisting people who are poor by providing a patient, stable, and caring presence through which change and growth can occur.

Organizations in the Cleveland area do a remarkable job working to meet the needs of people who are materially poor.  However, most will say that there are simply not enough resources to meet the needs.  As it becomes more difficult to pay for skilled staff members, nonprofit agencies increasingly look to volunteers to help fulfill their missions.

And the experience is remarkably rewarding too:

Al (serves at Community Service Alliance’s Procop House)
IVC has given structure and reality to my spiritual life; the poor are more than people I read about.  They are people with names and faces.  This is my fourth year.  I try and help in many ways including; fundraising, counseling, cleaning…

Ann  (serves at Metro Catholic School )
Working at Metro Catholic has made me realize how blessed and fortunate I have been in my life.  A caring family willing to sacrifice to provide education, etc. .some of my students work.. , have unstable homes and lives…

Marilynne (serves at Central Catholic High School)
I am busy in service every day, every minute that I volunteer.  I feel that I am a contributing member helping people who need assistance the most.
