Welcome to IVC DC/Metro Maryland

To me, the faith-centered service of the IVC volunteers is a manifestation of the Second Commandment.  This is ‘to love your neighbor as you love yourself’ in action, and it doesn’t get any better than that.

Welcome to one of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps’ oldest regions, which includes our Nation’s Capital and the Maryland counties of Montgomery, Prince George, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary.  But while it is a flagship region of IVC, DC/Metro Maryland is also one of IVCs most vibrant, rapidly expanding and highly diverse regions.

Today, 28 mature women and men offering a wide range of life experiences are making a difference in the lives of those in their community who are most in need of assistance—the materially poor, the disenfranchised and marginalized, the afflicted and abused.  And our numbers are growing.  We are former teachers, scientists, accountants, non-profit executives, IT specialists, federal government officials, nurses, lawyers and social workers.
