IVC-New England opened in January of 2009 and currently has a half dozen volunteers assigned to service sites in Boston, Providence and Worcester. Here are some current partner service agency opportunities for you to browse. Please note that assignments are on-going and therefore the list can change.
BOSTON DIOCESE:
-A High School College Counselor Assistant helping underprivileged teens to prepare for College.
-A High School Work-Study Program Officer to collect/evaluate student performance reviews & assist with work placements & student training in an underprivileged high school.
-High School Tutor during lunch & “flex periods,” as well as after school.
-Academic Tech. Coord./Teacher to assist with workshops in MS Office, teach basic internet and assist students with Rosetta Stone to improve their English language, for an Underprivileged School for Adults and Youths.
-An underprivileged school Technology IT Support Staff individual to manage their 2003 Server, troubleshoot computer issues with staff, maintain & update antivirus software and set up Email accounts.
-An underprivileged school Academic/Support Services Assistant to help teachers in lower level classes and for students needing special assistance & to help in referrals to service providers.
- Advancement Assistant. for an underprivileged school needs someone to help with the Fund Raising efforts of the school and will work in their Development Office.
-Underprivileged School Counselor/Social Worker to provide counseling and support to students in crisis, to help with social referrals & applying to colleges & help in overcoming barriers to their students’ success.
-a center for underprivileged students, which teaches filmography needs a Service Volunteer & Internship Developer to coordinate volunteers & internships at partnership sites in Boston area public high schools and in a television production workshops.
-Underprivileged work site needs a Development Associate to expand and manage a variety of Development [Fund Raising] and advocacy efforts to support this site, which works with kids.
-Inner city Catholic Parish is looking for a Pastoral Assoc. who needs to speak Spanish. Will also help with a weekday food pantry & other Admininstrative items.
-Inner city Catholic Parish needs a part time janitor for routine maintenance and repairs.
-Inner city Catholic Parish needs an Administrative Assistant who speaks Spanish, to help with the parish database, website, newsletter and office record organization.
-Downtown Boston [exceptional opportunity] in Homeless site’s adjacent Retail Corner Shop. The Volunteer would help to build systems for bookkeeping, financial accounting, tracking goods sold and marketing. Will also help with retail shop design, updating their signage, researching products and interacting with vendors. Would work the shop a few hours, as well.
-Food Pantry Associate in Lowell to help in food pantry, recruit & train volunteers & organize nutritional info for clients served.
-Development/Advancement volunteer in Lynn to help in mailings, phone calls, organizing paperwork and events & maintaining records. Will also help with Newsletter articles and assisting the Development Dept. with their needs.
-English as a second language [ESOL] teacher for S. Brockton.
-Immigration Attorney needed for S. Brockton
-Legal Aide for an agency which works with Haitians. Organization runs a hospital in Haiti and educates, as well. They are based in the Metro Boston area.
-HR Assistant to help with employee manuals, HR issues related to employees & organizational structures for this agency, who work with a Haitian population.
WORCESTER DIOCESE:
-A Grant Writer for a home-based family health and social services agency.
-A school aide assisting in a school for underpriviledged boys in the class room and library.
PROVIDENCE DIOCESE:
-Volunteer needed to become a site supervisor for construction of low income housing. Must be able to read blue prints and take a house from framework all the way up to completion. Will supervise volunteers, who will be constructing the homes in Providence
