Volunteer Opportunities – IVC New England

Boston (MA) area
- Refugee Immigration Ministry/RIM (Malden/ www.r-i-m.net) needs assistance in setting up a Career Laddering Program to assist former RIM clients move to work more appropriate to their skills. RIM would also welcome a volunteer interested in Event Planning.
- Housing Families, Inc. (Malden/ www.housingfamilies.org) hopes to develop and implement a plan to maximize the use of volunteers throughout its ministry to clients seeking housing or shelter. A Housing Families volunteer could serve as a Volunteer Project Manager or in a Receptionist capacity.
- Catholic Charities (Brockton/ www.ccab.org) has opportunities for Intake Workers, Attorneys having experience with the immigrant/refugee population, or ESOL teachers.
- Cotting School (Lexington/ www.cotting.org) is looking for Program Assistant volunteers to work with classroom teachers serving students with special needs.
Providence (RI) area
- George Wiley Center (Pawtucket/ www.georgewileycenter.org), an organization concerned with social and economic issues and public policy change needs a Breakfast Campaign Organizer or a Community Outreach Worker on energy justice issues.
- Catholic Charities (Providence/ www.dioceseofprovidence.org) would like to expand its volunteer team with an Elder Services Outreach volunteer and an Intake volunteer in its Pawtucket Project Hope office.
Worcester (MA) area
- Dismas House (Worcester/ www.dismashouse.org) has an immediate need for a volunteer to work with formerly incarcerated residents to assist them in procuring their health care benefits and to help with transportation to medical appointments.
- Urban Missionaries of Our Lady of Hope (Worcester/ www.urbanmissionaries.com) wants to bolster its social action ministry with volunteers to manage its EBay site and assist in its Little Store ministry.
- Worcester Youth Center (Worcester/ www.worcesteryouthcenter.org) needs a volunteer to serve as Project Coordinator to oversee the implementation of a small youth-run business at the Center.
- St. Joseph’s Parish (Fitchburg/ www.stjosephfitchburg.org) has multiple needs and would try to match volunteer interests and talents with the work that needs to be done.
