IVC New England opened in January of 2009 and currently has more than a half dozen volunteers already assigned to service sites. Here are some current partner service opportunities:
BOSTON DIOCESE:
- A High School College Counselor Assistant helping underprivileged teens to prepare for College.
- A High School Work-Study Program Officer to collect/evaluate student performance reviews & assist with work placements & student training in an underprivileged high school.
- High School Tutor during lunch & “flex periods,” as well as, after school.
- A Citizenship Assoc. to work in Citizenship Programs/Workshops and the Citizenship for New Americans Program and to respond to telephone inquiries and data entry of client intake.
- Academic Tech. Coord./Teacher to assist with workshops in MS Office, teach basic internet and assist students with Rosetta Stone to improve their English language, for an Underprivileged School for Adults and Youths.
- An underprivileged school Technology IT Support Staff individual to manage their 2003 Server, troubleshoot computer issues with staff, maintain & update antivirus software and set up Email accounts.
- An underprivileged school Academic/Support Services Assist.
- To help teachers in lower level classes and for students needing special assistance & to help in referrals to service providers.
- Advancement Assist. for an underprivileged school needs someone to help with the Fund Raising efforts of the school and will work in their Development Office.
- Underprivileged School Counselor/Social Worker to provide counseling and support to students in crisis, to help with social referrals & applying to colleges & help in overcoming barriers to their students’ success.
- A center for underprivileged students, which teaches filmography needs a Service Volunteer & Internship Developer to coordinate volunteers & internships at partnership sites in Boston area public high schools and in a television production workshops.
- Underprivileged work site needs a Development Assoc. to expand and manage a variety of Development [Fund Raising] and advocacy efforts to support this site, which works with kids.
- Inner city Catholic Parish is looking for a Pastoral Assoc. who needs to speak Spanish. Will also help with a weekday food pantry & other Admin. items.
- Inner city Catholic Parish needs a part time janitor for routine maintenance and repairs.
- Inner city Catholic Parish needs an Admin. Assist., who should speak Spanish, to help with the parish database, website, newsletter and office record organization.
- Downtown Boston [exceptional opportunity] in Homeless site’s adjacent Retail Corner Shop. The Volunteer would help to build systems for bookkeeping, financial accounting, tracking goods sold and marketing. Will also help with retail shop design, updating their signage, researching products and interacting with vendors. Would work the shop a few hours, as well.
- House Mom in downtown Boston Women’s Shelter, which holds 12 women. Will schedule other volunteer schedules, do some housework, some food shopping and manage all of the shelter’s issues, two days a week. Requires overnight stay.
WORCESTER DIOCESE:
- A Parent Aide Assist. is needed to work with staff to develop new workshops and program services specific to fathers. Will also assist in establishing a Kinship Program for grand moms
& other primary caretakers of children.
PROVIDENCE DIOCESE:
- Providence site that provides food, clothing, shelter, health services and emotional support & guidance to the homeless needs an Outreach/Administrative Assist.
- Volunteer to do intake with clients seeking rental assistance to provide to outreach workers. Will also entail purchasing needed items for clients, helping with some office work and supporting the staff.
- Volunteer needed to become a site supv. for construction of low income housing. Must be able to read blue prints and take a house from framework all the way up to completion. Will supv.
- Volunteers, who will be constructing the homes in Providence
